How it happened
Since the age of 15 or so ( even earlier if you count the dance music thang that was happpening on the radio ) I was drawn into a life I never expected to last this long. My mom brought me an electric guitar at local music shop and a few buddies and I (Brian Dennis, Jerry Laker, and Eric Holtegel) started our first band, "Storm" later to be named "Rock Slide". From there the passion never left. After going to my first concert in 1979, "Kiss", I knew I wanted to have that much fun too. From then until now it's been a very interesting road.
Here's some Influences: Kiss
Van Halen
AC/DC
Garth Brooks
Travis Tritt
King's X
U2

Just An Expression
Over the years many styles of music have become a part of what I enjoy. So often I hear music ( as well as people ) broken down into subcatagories. To me music is music. Some you enjoy and some you do not, if you don't move on and change the channel... if you like it...Grrrrreat!
Some how the blend that has arrived in my head that I try to share with those that do not change the channel I am on has become known as Funktry. It started being called that around 1995 while playing with the band "The Hollow". Our friends started calling it that while trying to describe what it was we were doing. No one knew...including us. The best way to think of it is with one of my many food referrences ( known as a Jeffism with those I work with ). If you take rock and roll, funk, a little bit of soul, sometimes a hint of bluegrass, and some down-home country and toss it in a blender, pour it on the dance floor and sprinkle a dance beat on top... there you have it.....FUNKTRY!!
